Bloody Sunday Poetry Competition

100 Years Later

A big ‘Well Done’ and ‘Congratulations’ to Tómas Hennessy, a fifth year student who has won the Bloody Sunday Commemorative Poetry Competition. Tómas wrote a piece inspired by the footage released by the GAA to pay tribute to the individuals who lost their lives on November 21st 1920.

Tómas won the first prize of a player issued Dublin Jersey. Proudly donated by the Dublin Senior Hurling team. Our affiliation with the GAA and the our proximity to Croke Park means a great deal to us as a school. Tómas just so happened to capture the importance of this relationship in his poem.

Special mention to Mr. O’Hanrahan who has led our school in the 100 Year Anniversary Commemorations with displays, tours and competitions.
