DIT Computing Academy week 2014
Congratulations to Manolito Aviles and Kyle Harris from St. Joseph’s CBS, Fairview who received certificates from their week long work placement at the DIT Computing Academy.
The annual DIT Computing Academy took place in May. The course is to raise awareness about what is involved in studying Computer Science or IT at third level. Both Kyle and Manolito agreed that it was a worth while experience and gave them the opportunity to see first hand what studying Computer Science and IT could be like.
The students had a full week of Computing activities, including developing their own web presence, programming in two and three dimensions, programming robots and developing a mobile application. In addition to this, they attended lectures telling them about how the Internet works, the inside of a PC and how to use programming skills along with engineering skills. The event was run by lecturers in the School of Computing with the assistance of undergraduate students.
