Football Fundraiser

Last Friday, Stella Maris hosted the challenge of all Challenges! Mr. Kelly vs Miss. Barry. Joey’s vs Sheriff.

The match was being held in honour of Cian, one of our 6th year students tackling ongoing treatment at the moment.

So far the non-uniform day and Staff Bake Off, in conjunction with the Match itself, have resulted in just over €1,300 and counting. Staff had a target of €500 in order for 4 brave staff members to volunteer for Shave or Dye next month; a vote is taking place in the coming weeks to determine the colour of dye used.

Shave or Dye will take place on the same day as a Jersey Raffle including prize jerseys from Dublin GAA, Stella Maris and AFC Bournemouth. A huge thank you and well done to Miss. Barry and her team of students on the fundraising committee for such an excellent job done. Maria Hennessy and the Parents’ Council continue to support our school events, a sincere thank you to them for their ongoing support.

The match itself was enjoyed by both spectators and players as a 1-1 draw turned to Penalties. Ross Egan scored the goal for Joeys with Tadgh Walsh equalising for Sheriff. But in the end it was Mr. Kelly’s Joey’s Team that proved victorious. Each member of both squads represented their team and their school superbly with teachers and managers commenting on their excellent performance and behaviour.

This is the Joey’s Spirit that we are known for. This is our community.
