It was with deep sadness that we learned of the sudden death of Harry Boland, esteemed past pupil, a week before Christmas. Harry was the doyen of the PPU, his involvement going right back to its inception in the 1950s. Throughout those years Harry was hugely involved and the PPU dinner in 2013 was the first one he did not attend, due to health reasons. We were delighted to have Harry in the school as recently as 9th December last for our launch night, where along with John Kennedy, Harry cut the ribbon to officially open our recently built classrooms. On the night he was his usual affable self and hugely interested, as always, in how things were going in the school. Before he left he told us that he intended to be at the PPU dinner in February 2014. Sadly that will not now come to pass. To Harry’s wife Noirin, daughter Maire, sons Harry and Gearoid, extended family and many friends may we here in St. Joseph’s pass on our deepest sympathy. Harry will be hugely missed by us all.
