TY Graduation Ceremony 2014

2014-05-14 11.33.49

On Wednesday 14th May, with an appreciative audience of parents, teachers, relatives and friends, the TY graduation took place at 11.15 A.M. This was a wonderful event because it represented the culmination of a packed and eventful year for the students. The hall was bedecked with displays, organised by Conor O’Reilly and Stephen Moran that illustrated the many activities they were involved in, with the various Mini-Company projects taking pride of place.
The venue was the Primary School Hall where every student was conferred with a portfolio of certificates for all of the various activities they were involved in: Cookery, Food Science, Kick Boxing, Boxing, Mini-Company, Computers, Urban Studies, several academic subjects and various sports. The Debating Science all-Ireland winning team were each presented with a replica of their winning trophy while Conor O’Reilly received the Student of the Year Award for his unstinting work and commitment throughout the year.
The day was tinged with a little sadness as the TY Co-ordinator and Year Head, Ms Barbara Farrell was presented with cards and flowers by the students for her imminent retirement. Flowers were also presented by the students to  representatives from Oracle for their wonderful work with the students over the year with Interviews and Mentoring. The Spanish students were also presented with specially made cards by the TYs to highlight the Spanish-Ireland link in Joey’s.
Speakers on the day included Ms Farrell, the principal Mr. G.Cullen who presented all the prizes, Mr. D. Sheahan, Ms. F. Barry, Mr. T. Quinlan, Ms. M. Martin and the representatives from Oracle. The SNAs arranged the flowers and served the refreshments afterwards to end a wonderful school and family event.
