Numbers- The Universal Language
The Mathematics department in Scoil Iósaif strives to create a positive, caring learning environment for all students. Our use of differentiation creates a sense of inclusivity across all class levels and our learning methodologies vary to ensure all students are in an engaging, encouraging environment. Students will take Maths every year during their time in our school.
Students follow the Leaving Certificate and also Leaving Certificate Applied courses.
Maths Week occurs every October and all students get a taster for the exciting opportunities Maths can offer throughout our society. Each year we have multiple competitions, maths quizzes, maths puzzles and guest speakers.
As a department we are committed to supporting each student to achieve their potential in the national state exams. We achieve this through small class groups and also the streaming of groups. All students are encouraged to work to their highest level of Mathematical ability. This ensures every learner is in a class that caters to their abilities.
