The Green School’s Committee has recently been revived, and they kickstarted their year and their Litter and Waste theme with an April Spring Clean! In two hours on Friday the 17th of April, the committee along with several volunteers gathered x bags full of recycling and x bags full of general waste from the school premises and around the school block.
The following week, they returned 160kg of plastic bottles and donated the €60 to Focus Ireland in aid of their No Child Without a Home Campaign.
On Thursday the 23rd of April, the committee carried out a litter audit before school, after the small break, after lunch, and at the end of the day. The total amount of litter collected in the yard and in the corridors during the school day was half a kilo.
Last week, on Thursday the 7th of May, the committee carried out visual and physical waste inspections of the bins in the classrooms, and our large outside bins. This will all go towards forming our Action Plan!
