The Role of the Tutor System

The tutor system provides an additional layer of support for every student in the school. Tutors check in with their students each day, creating a consistent opportunity to see how students are doing, identify any concerns early and ensure that students feel known, supported and connected to the school community. These regular check-ins allow tutors to monitor students’ wellbeing, attendance, punctuality, engagement and general presentation, while also providing a familiar adult that students can approach if they are experiencing difficulties. The tutor system is not intended to replace the role of Year Heads, Guidance, SEN or other pastoral supports; rather, it creates another tier of support within our pastoral structure, allowing concerns to be identified at an early stage and referred to the appropriate member of staff where necessary. By making this daily connection part of the school routine, we hope to strengthen relationships, improve communication and ensure that no student slips through the cracks.
