Charity Tennis Event for Zambia

On Sunday May 25th Mr Trevor Lonergan (Vice-President) and Ms Mairéad Martin, Careers Guidance Teacher, organised a Charity Tennis Event in Clontarf Tennis Club. Many staff members, both teachers and SNAs, along with many of their friends from the Club and elsewhere took part in this fun event which took the form of men’s /women’s/ mixed doubles. Ms Carmel Mulcahy’s team won the day.

Refreshments were then served in the clubhouse during which time raffle tickets were sold and a draw took place. All in all, this was a wonderful fun family event that raised the big sum of €1,400 for a very worthy cause, namely the Zambia Build A School project, one of the many such projects St Joseph’s has proudly been associated with for a long number of years.

Mr. Ciarán O’ Callaghan, Zambia Project Leader, thanked all concerned for raising such a substantial sum and outlined how this money will be spent and how useful it will be on the ground. Mr O’Callaghan leads a team of teachers and students to Zambia in early June.
