As our school community swings back into action after a restful Christmas break we would like to take a moment to share some of our exciting events and updates from 2022 so far.
Firstly; as of Wednesday 11th January, we are able to offer all students hot and healthy lunches every day, thanks to Fresh Today. This is a fantastic development. Before now, the architecture of our listed building has meant we have not had access to a Canteen or Kitchen facility. Students from first to sixth year have been queuing every day since the arrival of this amenity and the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.

Last Thursday, January 13th, Minister for Higher and Further Education; Simon Harris visited our Leaving Certificate students to discuss the changes to the CAO website. CAO courses choices have expanded to facilitate access to a number of different higher education pathways. Minister Harris responded to queries from our students as to their options once they have completed their exams and listened to their concerns about the months ahead. Our Prefects welcomed the Minister and acted as spokesmen for their class. CAO Applications will close on February 1st for higher education courses beginning in September this year.

With the start of this new year, comes adjustments to some of our policies. Our brand new Code of Behaviour has now been ratified by the Board of Management and we will work on implementing this new policy with the help of the NBSS (National Behaviour Support Service) over the coming year. This policy was written in consultation with all stakeholders in our school. Students and staff will focus on positive reinforcement and restorative practices to facilitate productive and enjoyable teaching and learning. With the support of the NBSS we hope a transition to this modern approach will be of huge benefit to everyone in the school. The policy is available on our website at the link below or in our Policies Tab.
We are heading into a busy time now as Mock examinations begin shortly for exam years, our TY PTECH students look to Partner Companies for their Work Experience and CBA’s are being completed by Junior students. If any parents are having difficulty accessing Reports from Christmas examinations, please get in touch via the App.
