Darkness Into Light, Phoenix Park

This year 45 students from TY, 5th year, 6th year and our student council participated in the annual Darkness Into Light event in Phoenix Park. This event is one of the highlights of our year as we are very passionate about promoting positive mental health in our school. All students and teachers involved met in O’Connell’s Secondary school in the early hours of Saturday the 12th of May. There, we met many other groups from the NEIC that were also taking part. The atmosphere was electric!

The walk was 5km and began at 4.15 am. The music, speeches and conversations held on the night really emphasise our Cycle Against Suicide ethos that ‘it’s okay not to feel okay and it is absolutely okay to ask for help’.

Over €250 was raised in Joeys for this amazing cause.

Thank you to Ms. Leetch, Mr. Quinlan, Ms. Byrne and Mr. Richardson for making this school event such a success!
